New videos

I was finally able to upload a couple of videos. I tried doing it a while back, but it wasn't working properly so I just saved the posts as drafts. Those of you that follow my blog via a feed should see these posts like the others, but I didn't want the rest of you to miss them. You will have to go back to the archives in September for "Peek-a-boo Addysen" and October for "hi". Enjoy!

Addysen turns 1!

Steve had a really crazy schedule in August so we weren't able to have a big party for Addysen's first birthday. We celebrated on our own with some purple cupcakes! She didn't know what to think at first when Steve lit the candle,

...but soon this uncertainty...

...led to this....

Soon...she was covered in cupcake crumbs and purple frosting...

...but I think she liked it! :)

She read her cards...

...and then moved on to her gifts.

As usual, she loved the wrapping paper...

A couple of days later, she opened her presents from Aunt Sharon and Uncle Rob. This was Steve's "favorite" and I am sure that he will be picking out a "noisy" toy for Brayden for Christmas! :)

She also received a gift from her Nana a few days later...

She is still at the age where she enjoys the card almost as much as the present..

She loves her new clothes..

...and she thought her new Cookie Monster was pretty funny!

She has been working really hard on walking...

...and loves to explore things without having to crawl around anymore.

Most of the time, Kylea still gets upset when she gets into whatever she is playing with at the time, but they have been playing together better lately.

Here are some other random pictures from Addysen's last month before turning 1!

And finally....

A Visit with Granny and Grandpa

July 2009
My parents came out to visit for Brayden's birth so the girls were able to spend some time with them. We made a couple visits to the beach...the first time Kylea and Addysen still refused to go near the water. Instead, we made Kylea into a mermaid....

The second time we went, they couldn't get enough of the water. I don't know what happened to change their feelings about the water, but I am not complaining. It did make taking them both to the beach by myself a little bit more complicated, but they always love it! Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures to prove that they went in the water....you'll just have to take my word for it.

Addysen showed off her newly learned skill (courtesy of her big sister teaching her)....putting the balls into the holes on the roll-a-round toys.

Kylea practiced her roller skating...

We also took a hike around First Landing State Park and visited with the local mosquito population. Kylea always enjoys finding the letters along the trail and getting her picture taken with "her letter."

Addysen got her turn as well....

....and "G" is for Granny and Grandpa.

Apparently, being pushed around in a stroller can be very exhausting...

We enjoyed our visit with them and can't wait for them to come back.

VBS and a special visitor

July 13-17, 2009
Kylea was able to go to VBS at some our friends' church. She really enjoyed it. She didn't know it until we got there, but Isabelle (who recently moved to South Carolina) was coming to VBS for the week too. Kylea was actually speechless when she saw her because she wasn't expecting to see her there.

We were also able to get together a couple of days later with Kimberlee, Ian, Isabelle, and meet cute little Isaac for the first time. The Morelands also joined us for a little while as well to enjoy a little picnic lunch and play at our neighborhood playground.

On the last night of VBS, the kids all performed some of the songs that they had learned. Kylea had been singing her songs all week! Her Granny and Grandpa were also able to make it to her performance since they were in town.

She was also able to show us all of her special art projects that she had worked on all week. She was very proud of them.

Kylea and Isabelle on the last night of VBS....

Addysen- 11 months old

July 7, 2009

Addysen turned 11 months old in July. I can't believe that she will already be turning one. Time sure flies! She is so much more daring and active than Kylea was at this age. Unfortunately, along with that daring attitude comes a few bumps and bruises. I don't think that Kylea got her first skinned knee until she was 3 years old! Addysen has already passed her up with boo-boo's. They don't hold her back for too long though before she is back on the go again. Here is a pic of her poor little bruise on her forehead. Yikes!

She also LOVES going to the beach....but only for the sand! I was really hesitant to take them both to the beach by myself, but it wasn't too bad since neither of them want to go anywhere near the water. Addysen crawls all over the beach without any hesitation. Her absolute favorite thing to do at the beach though is to play with a bucket of water! She just splashes...and splashes....and splashes! We have made many, many trips to the beach this summer.

She also loves to copy anything that Kylea does. I am sure this will be a problem in the future, but for now it's just cute.

Welcome Brayden!

My newest nephew, Brayden Michael, arrived on July 5th.....7 pounds, 15 ounces

July 5, 2009

Kylea made sure to give him the gift she picked out for him.

I also got a cute pic of the girls when we went to visit him.

Welcome to the family Brayden!

Happy Independence Day!

July 4, 2009

Addysen and Daddy...before the fireworks

Kylea had been waiting for "4th of July" since July 4, 2008. She asked when it would be time for fireworks....on a regular basis. When I told her that July was finally here, she could hardly wait the 4 days until fireworks. My sister was in the hospital in labor with Brayden so I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to go to see the fireworks with Kylea, but I was able to after all. As soon as the fireworks started, Addysen held onto her blanket like her life depended on it. She wasn't really crying, but she made a few "cry-like" sounds. Kylea was a little nervous too, but she put on her brave face for Addysen. She immediately started hugging Addysen to help calm her down. At first, Addysen wouldn't even look at the fireworks.

After a while, she summoned up the courage to look at the fireworks, but she was NOT letting go of her blanket! I was so proud of Kylea for being so brave and helping her sister out. She is such a great big sister....most of the time! :)

Kylea's hero

June 19, 2009
I surprised Kylea with a visit to one of her favorite "people" right now....Strawberry Shortcake. I think that Kylea is "her biggest fan!" We had to wait for a while inside Toys R Us before she came out. Kylea was getting a little impatient because she didn't know why we were there. Dora came out first and then....Strawberry Shortcake. Kylea was so surprised!

"Hi!"

June 12, 2009
Addysen has been waving and saying "hi" for a while now, but I just hadn't been able to get it on video. Every day, she waved "hi" to Kylea while they were eating their meals so I figured this was my opportunity to get it on video.

Don't forget to pause the music on the right side of the page.

Addysen- 10 months old

June 7, 2009
Addysen was 10 months old in June. She still is happy to jump in her jumperoo, but it is very clear that she wants to be more "on the move." She is such a happy baby and puts up with almost everything that her big sister does with her. She has been doing really well with her sippy cup and it won't be very long before we can pack away the bottles!

I was lucky to get a picture of her sitting with the monkey this month because she just wouldn't sit still. She loves looking out the window and climbing all over everything!

Pool Fun!

June 6, 2009
We went over to our friends house one afternoon for lunch with some other friends of ours. Even though the weather hadn't quite warmed up for the summer yet, Kylea still wanted to spend some time in the pool. She loved it! The best part was that their dog, Buster, loves the pool as well and spent most of the time on one of the rafts next to Kylea. She would throw the ball and he would jump in the pool, retrieve the ball, and jump up onto the safety of the raft.

Miss Sarah spent some time showing Addysen around the backyard.

No 3D for Kylea!

June 1, 2009
I decided to take the girls to Busch Gardens one afternoon to let Kylea ride the kiddie rides. I decided to take them to the Sesame Street 3D show so that we could sit in an air conditioned room while I gave Addysen her bottle. Big mistake!!

As you can see, Kylea had no problem putting the glasses on before the show started, but she refused to put them on after the show started. My mom and I took her to see the Whales and Dolphins 3D show at the aquarium right after Addysen was born last year and she was scared to death of the whales getting "so close to her." That was almost a year ago though...and this was Sesame Street....so I thought she would do OK. I mean....who is scared of Elmo!? Well, apparently Kylea is when she has the 3D glasses on.

What I didn't realize was that this was actually a 4D show rather than a 3D show. This meant air blowing at us when it was "windy" during the show and then a rainshower when it started raining in the show. Yikes! I had to take 2 screaming kids out of the show! Kylea has repeatedly told me since then that she doesn't like things "getting close to her" when she puts the glasses on. I guess we will have to wait quite a while to enjoy the 3D shows with her!

We just headed to the water area so that Kylea could forget about her traumatic experience.....much better!

This year, Kylea has been able to go on some of the bigger rides with me when Steve is with us to watch Addysen. I don't really think that these kiddie rides were as exciting as they used to be before she experienced the bigger rides. These little kid swings are extremely slow and I could just see the disappointment on her face as she was riding it. I knew that she would much rather be riding the big swings that were right next to these!

Random May Pictures

May 2009
Watching the parade at the Strawberry Festival...

Kylea always makes pictures for me and makes sure to put my name on everything! She surprised me with this one morning. The picture in the center is a heart. I love my Kylea!

We were finally able to get a bike seat for Addysen so that we could all go on bike rides. Isn't she so cute in her gigantic helmet!

Addysen testing out Kylea's fairy wings...

Kylea checking out the toad that has taken up residence in our backyard this summer..

Sidewalk chalk fun..

I taught Kylea how to play hopscotch....she is pretty good!

Peek-a-boo Addysen

May 27, 2009
This was Addysen's favorite game to play for a couple of days. After a couple of days she started handing the blanket back to me every time so that she could keep playing. Those of you who have followed my blog for a while may find the laughing similar to this post. Those baby laughs are so contagious!

They are almost the same ages in these 2 videos. I also just realized while I was linking the post that they are wearing the same outfit in both videos. That is so crazy! I promise that I didn't plan that!

Don't forget to pause the music on the right side of the page.

Busch Gardens- Take 2

May 23, 2009
We were able to meet up with Kaley and her family at Busch Gardens one weekend. While Steve went off with Marty to ride the roller coasters, Stephanie and I stayed with the girls. They had a lot of fun going through Dragonland and we had a lot of "fun" trying to keep up with them. They had some of their other friends with them as well and Delaney is the little girl with Kylea and Kaley in the pictures.

Kylea was a little nervous to ride this one all by herself...

Kylea's Preschool Party

May 22, 2009
Kylea's entire preschool went to Ocean Tumblers for their end of the year party. They split up into different groups and played on the various gymnastic equipment. Kylea had a blast and can't wait to go back sometime. She talks about it all of the time. My pictures aren't that great because we were sitting way up high in the bleachers. Kylea's friend Journey was in her group and her mom Jessica walked down and took some really great pictures of Kylea.

They started out by playing a game on the mat similar to musical chairs except with rings.

Next they got to jump into the pit of foam blocks that the gymnasts use to practice their flips, etc......and then they were able to jump on all the various trampolines.

Kylea with her friends Kyne and Journey. Sadly, neither of them will be in her class in the fall, but they will still be at the school and she sees Journey every week at church.

At one point, they took turns laying down on the trampoline. The "instructor" would jump on the trampoline and make the kids bounce really high into the air and then catch them. Kylea looks a little nervous, but she really loved this part!

Afterward, they had some snacks before they said their "good-byes" for the summer.
This is Kylea with Logan and Journey....and the brownies of course!

This is Kylea with Mrs. Atkinson. She was a wonderful teacher for Kylea!

This has been such a great preschool and I am so glad that we were able to send Kylea there for the 3 year old class and that she will be able to return for the 4 year old class.

The Strawberry Patch

May 12, 2009
Every summer, we have headed over to Henley Farm to pick strawberries. Kylea has become very skilled at picking good strawberries. She is quickly able to tell you not to pick the green ones or the mushy ones! She does a great job helping me fill our bucket. We usually end up going back a couple times during the month of May. Steve was able to go with us for the first time this year.

I was able to make some freezer jam again, but not as much as I was able to make last year.

Busch Gardens- Take 1

May 8, 2009
We decided to get season passes this year for Busch Gardens since Kylea could go on a lot more rides this year. They have a new Sesame Street park and that is where we started off. Kylea is tall enough to ride by herself on some of the rides, but she wanted me to go with her first and then she rode all by herself. Somehow we didn't end up with a picture of her riding in the dragon boats all by herself though.

You can see her holding up her hands on this one. I don't think they stayed up though after we got to the top.

Every hour or so, the characters come out and do a short show.

This was one of the only times that Addysen was able to "participate" at Busch Gardens. The rest of the time, she just sat back and chilled in her stroller.

This was one of my favorite rides to go on with Kylea because she just giggled the whole time. She loved it!
She also loved this "big kid" ride...The Battering Ram:

The hot air balloon ride...

Then we found the one ride that Addysen could ride....the carousel.

Steve insisted that we stop and get ice cream before we left the park. This is what resulted:

...but it sure was a nice end to a fun day at Busch Gardens!

The Bug

May 2009
Steve has always dreamed of owning a VW Beetle. His mom was nice enough to give him one that she has had for a while. In May, Steve drove out to Tennessee and brought back "The Bug". His mom came along for the transfer of this precious cargo. Once they pulled up with "The Bug", it was no surprise as to why there was duct tape involved in making sure that it arrived safely and in one piece. It now sits proudly in front of our house!

Steve insisted that I take a ride in it shortly after he pulled up with it. We drove to the grocery store and back....it stalled every time we stop. Needless to say, I was not a big fan of this. This statement would soon be an understatement of how I felt about "The Bug". Steve showed me the remains of what was once a resident of "The Bug". I have yet to ride in it again. :)

Although I have yet to understand this dream of Steve's, I have begun to become accustomed to seeing it in front of our house finally. I actually use it to give directions to our house for people who have never been here because you just can't miss our house with "The Bug" sitting out front. :)
In fact, just last night, we found out that the new neighbor's teenage daughter across the street who is about to get her driver's license sits in their garage and stares at "The Bug" because she is such a big fan of it. She sent her dad over to ask Steve how much he would sell it for. Steve informed him that it was "not for sale!" Maybe after a while (and after a new paint job), I will understand Steve's love of the bug. I guess only time will tell. Now, about that car cover that I need to order....

Addysen- 9 months

May 7, 2009
In May, Addysen turned 9 months old! Her first 2 bottom teeth had finally started to make their way through.

She is always very happy and smiling.

Addysen with a mohawk...courtesy of Aunt Sharon.

Working on her juice cup...(more ended up on her shirt than in her mouth at this point)...

...I think she likes it though! :)

Beach- May 3, 2009

Sometime last summer, Kylea developed a "fear" of the ocean. She is perfectly content to play in the sand and chase the seagulls....or run through the sand with daddy...

...as long as no one is suggesting that she go anywhere near the water. We also discovered on this trip that Addysen was not a big fan of the waves either. They both love water anywhere else (pools, the bath, etc)...I think it is just the sound of the waves that they don't like. Somehow we managed to get their feet into the water without too much objection, but Kylea was making sure to stay very close to me the whole time.

Miscellaneous April pictures

She will always be my "first baby" no matter how big she gets...

Little Sister and Big Sister...

Kylea playing with her bubbles...

Bathtime...

Aunt Sharon (she was about 7 months pregnant) attempted to teach Kylea how to roller skate. These were a present from Aunt Sharon and Uncle Rob. I really should have taken a video clip of this because it was quite entertaining!

Kylea used some of her birthday money to buy some Tinker Bell shoes that she has had her eye on for quite some time. She also bought some fairy wings and a wand to go with her Tinker Bell shoes. She is enjoying her free birthday Baskin-Robbins ice-cream cone in this picture as well!

The Greatest Show on Earth

April 26, 2009
After we went to the zoo, we dropped Addysen off to spend some time with Aunt Sharon and then we took Kylea to the circus for her birthday! This was Steve and Kylea's first time at the circus and I don't really remember the one time that I went to the circus when I was younger. Before the circus started, they had animals and clowns down on the arena floor for autographs and small shows. Kylea was a little hesitant to go anywhere near the clowns. This is the first one we saw so I understand why she was hesitant.

She preferred the safety of daddy's shoulders rather than getting up close and personal with the clowns.

We were able to watch the elephant painting a picture too.
Kylea really liked all of the dogs doing tricks. This one is jumping rope....

...and this one is riding a scooter.

We were sitting right in front of the tightrope act. It was pretty amazing what they could do on the tightrope!

The elephants put on quite a show.

Kylea's favorite part was definitely the tigers though.

Birthday Zoo Trip

April 26, 2009
The day after Kylea's birthday party, we headed to the zoo with her friend Kaley and her family. The girls had fun enjoying the animals at the zoo and riding on the new train.

Kaley had no fear when it came to petting the snake, but Kylea just couldn't bring herself to do it.

We were lucky enough to get a "show" from the peacock too!

Addysen "tolerated" this trip to the zoo, but I think she was pretty sleepy!

Happy 4th Birthday Kylea!

April 25, 2009
After Kylea went to bed on the night before her birthday, we decorated the house with some streamers. We put some on her door frame so that she could wake up to this...

We decided to have a small party this year with just family and one of her friends.

She was so happy to have Kaley at her party since she doesn't get to see her very often.

Spring Soccer

We decided to put Kylea in soccer again this spring. There were a couple of the same players on her new team that were on her team last fall. Her team this season was the Riptides! Her coach was awesome and her assistant coach was someone that used to teach her Sunday School class when she was 2. She did really well this season at staying on the field and not running back to us every 10 seconds!

Kylea showing off her awesome soccer skills!
Kylea and Ella were on the same team for both seasons.

Their end of the season party was held at Cici's Pizza. They all received trophies and.....
purple cupcakes!!!!

Happy Easter!

My little cuties on Easter Sunday...
After we came home from church, we gave the girls their Easter baskets. Of course, Addysen thought the basket itself was a better gift than anything in the basket.

Apparently, Aunt Sharon wins the prize for the best Easter gift!

...and Kylea wins the prize for the biggest mess made from an Easter basket!

After that, Kylea went on her *3rd* Easter hunt....in our backyard.

A couple of days earlier, the girls receive their Easter gifts from their granny.

Addysen is so excited that she has a fun, crinkly bag to play with.

...Kylea admiring her bracelet...Addysen *still* admiring the crinkly bag!

Kylea got her tissue paper out first and Addysen quickly forgot about the crinkly bag so she could have more fun with the tissue paper.

Addysen soon found her own tissue paper...

...oh yeah....and there is a bunny in there too!

Kylea modeling her new necklace and bracelet from granny!

Easter Egg Hunts!

On the Saturday before Easter, I took Kylea to a school down the street where a church was hosting a *massive* Easter egg hunt. There were lots and lots of people there, but I couldn't believe how many eggs were scattered over the fields. They were only inches from each other and covered almost 2 football fields. Kylea was part of the younger kids' egg hunt so her hunt area was a little smaller. There were still enough eggs that she had to stop before it was over because she had filled her basket as much as she possibly could. She also was taking her time picking up the eggs. Most of the other kids were picking up every egg that they came across, but not Kylea. She knew exactly which eggs she wanted and she would walk past dozens of eggs just to find the perfect eggs. It was definitely a great Easter egg hunt for her!

...before the hunt.

...finding the perfect egg.

...basket full of eggs!
Later that afternoon, during Addysen's naptime, we went to an egg hunt in our neighborhood. It started sprinkling during the egg hunt, but that didn't stop Kylea. She even managed to find the "prize egg" and received a book! She was so excited about that and couldn't wait to tell her daddy!

...this is Kylea coming to tell me that she had found the prize egg!

Earlier in the week, Kylea had an Easter egg hunt and party at her preschool too! They had made their baskets earlier in the week and were told to find one of each of the 4 different colored eggs. She had a lot of fun!

Easter Eggs

Kylea really enjoyed dyeing Easter eggs although it is always a little bit too messy for my comfort. I'm glad that we were able to do it outside this year!

..the "marble" egg didn't work out so well...it never even ended up drying!

Addysen- 8 months

In April, Addysen turned 8 months old. She was just learning how to crawl at this point although she still preferred to roll around.

She received this adorable outfit from my Aunt Cathy with matching boots! I love it! Believe it or not, it is actually a 12 month outfit and she is only 8 months old in this picture. Crazy!

Here are some other random pictures:

...gotta have a close-up of the cute boots!

The Easter Bunny

The Easter bunny picture didn't scan very well, but it was the best I could do. I was thrilled that they both smiled at the same time....that usually doesn't happen for me when I am taking the picture. Addysen *loved* the Easter bunny. She kept laughing because his fur was tickling her face. Kylea, on the other hand, kept asking me if the Easter bunny was a boy. She told me that she could see his shoes (through his costume). She went along with the whole thing though and allowed me to get a good photo!

After the photo, they both were given paper bunny ears. Kylea was done cooperating by the time we got home so I wasn't able to get a picture of both of them with their bunny ears on. At least Addysen was cooperating.

On the Move

Addysen began rocking back and forth on her hands and knees in March. Not long after that, in early April, she started crawling. She still preferred to move along on her hands and feet though!

7 months old

Addysen turned 7 months old in March. She is growing up so fast. This month she finally mastered sitting up.

I think she was pretty proud of herself!
Look at that chin!!

Kylea usually doesn't like her picture taken unless I have just taken one of Addysen....then she has to make sure and get her turn.

The Return of...

The Dolphin Swing!!

Addysen loves swinging next to Kylea....they just laugh and laugh the whole time!

On another note, here is a random picture of Steve with his little culinary helper. Kylea loved helping him make pasta. What a great helper!

Zoo trip

We decided to renew our zoo membership now that the weather is getting nicer. Last year, we watched as they began construction on the new zoo train. Kylea would ask all of the time if they were finished building it. She was excited that it was finally done when we made a visit to the zoo in February.

Kylea thought it was hilarious that this skink kept sticking its tongue out.

Happy Birthday Kaley!

February also brought Kaley's 4th birthday! So....we headed up north for her party.

It wouldn't be Kaley's party without a pinata. At least it wasn't as traumatic as last year! I think Kylea still has nightmares about Diego losing his head.

Addysen's favorite part was the balloons..

Kylea's favorite part was *clearly* the cake! This is the best picture I got of Kylea and Kaley....sorry about Kylea's crazy cake smile!

Cousins

Tanner and Camden came over for a few hours in February (yes...i realize I am over 3 months behind, but at least I am *attempting* to get caught up, right?!?)

I was able to get a few pics of all of the cousins.....and trust me, this was quite an accomplishment getting them all looking at the camera at the same time!

They played along with Kylea's "tea party" for a little bit, but then quickly moved on to other things.

They played some games and puzzles...

...and Camden made sure to get a good look at Addysen with the binoculars.

Kylea really enjoyed spending the afternoon with her cousins!
